Bali is built for two wheels. A scooter is the cheapest way to explore the island — it beats taxi fares on short hops, slips past temple-traffic jams, and lets you stop wherever the view demands. Most visitors rent an automatic scooter for their whole stay: it covers beach runs in Canggu, rice-terrace loops in Ubud, and the ride down to the Padang Bai ferry port when it's time to hop to the Gili Islands or Nusa Penida.

Which scooter should you pick?

• Yamaha NMAX 155 — the all-round favourite. Smooth, stable at speed, big underseat storage. Ideal for couples exploring Canggu and Ubud.
• Honda PCX 160 — the most comfortable daily rider. Slightly larger seat, great suspension for Bali's less-perfect roads, and the same easy automatic ride.
• Yamaha XMAX 250 — for longer loops (Uluwatu, east Bali, Kintamani). More power for hills, maxi-scooter comfort, still automatic and easy to ride.
• Ninja 250 / CBR 250RR — sport bikes for experienced riders who want the twisty mountain roads around Bedugul and Sidemen. Full licence and IDP required.

Every scooter is serviced before each rental, with brakes, tyres and lights checked. If anything feels off during your rental, we swap it out within hours — no questions.

What you need to rent

• International Driving Permit (IDP) with a motorcycle endorsement — required by Indonesian law and checked by police, especially around Canggu and Kuta.
• A valid home driving licence — must be carried with the IDP at all times.
• Passport copy — standard practice at every rental shop in Bali, kept for the rental agreement only.

No IDP? No problem — our car rental with driver or private driver options get you everywhere without a licence.

How the rental process works

1. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates, hotel area and how many scooters you need.
2. Get a fixed quote with the model, insurance and deposit — usually within minutes.
3. We deliver the scooter to your hotel or villa with helmets, documents and a full condition check.
4. Pay at delivery — cash, card or bank transfer. Deposit returned at pickup when the scooter comes back undamaged.

Taking the fast boat over to the islands? Scooters can't cross on the boats, but our airport pickup and driver services can take you to the Padang Bai or Serangan/Sanur ports — and meet you on the other side in the Gili Islands if you like.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a scooter in Bali without a license?

You need an International Driving Permit (IDP) with a motorcycle endorsement to ride legally in Indonesia. Most rental shops ask for a valid license. BaliGoat rental includes insurance and requires proper documentation.

How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Bali?

From IDR 100K per day (about $6) for a Yamaha NMAX 155, IDR 125K for a Honda PCX 160, and IDR 200K for a Yamaha XMAX 250. Insurance is IDR 25K per day extra and is required.

Is scooter insurance included?

Insurance is IDR 25K per day and covers damage to the rental scooter. A refundable deposit is held at pickup: IDR 200K for NMAX/PCX, IDR 400K for XMAX, IDR 500K for sport bikes.

Do you deliver the scooter to my hotel?

Yes — free delivery and pickup across Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. We meet you at your hotel or villa with helmets and the rental documents.

Are helmets included with the rental?

Yes, two helmets are included with every scooter rental. Wearing a helmet is mandatory in Bali and police do check, especially around Canggu and Kuta.
